GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROGRAM

The Master’s and Doctorate Program in Architecture, Urbanism and Design (MyDAUD) is aimed at training researchers in the multidisciplinary study of habitat at the scale of architectural building, the object and visual communication, as well as the challenges involved in around the city and its relationship with the regional, cross-border and international dynamics of northern Mexico and southern United States of America. Its objective is the technical-scientific qualification of teachers and doctors in various disciplines with the mission of generating, developing and disseminating knowledge produced for its use in professional practice and applied research, corresponding according to their degree of qualification for its successful transfer to innovative techniques market application at the master’s level or knowledge generation at the doctoral level. Always with a critical vision based on codes of values of high social commitment that respond to the guidelines of a globalized world in constant transformation.

In this sense, the MyDAUD program contemplates a flexible design of tools and linkage modalities by stages that will provide the necessary training for the successful incorporation of its master’s graduates in specialized areas of the labor market; from a useful multidisciplinary perspective, both to respond to the current dynamics of globalization and the opening of labor markets, as well as to deepen the specific fields of knowledge at the doctorate level through continuity in the program.

Thus, this postgraduate program strengthens a university vision, whose main objective is to increase the institutional capacities necessary to respond in a timely and pertinent manner to the demands generated by the social and economic development of the state, as well as by national and international trends in the Higher education establishing effective linkage channels with companies, government and society that favor the employability of its graduates, the relevance of their educational programs and the promotion of entrepreneurship that promotes the development of regional innovation systems to improve the competitiveness of the state.

Due to the educational opportunities, the MyDAUD program pays for the 2015-2019 Institutional Development Plan, through the contemplation of the distinctive features stipulated in its sections under the framework of an offer based on flexible educational models, with an international dimension supported by high academic capacity teaching staff that promote in students a deep sense of institutional identity and appreciation in the labor market.

This is possible, given the high qualification and critical sense that accompanies research, innovation and development, academic collaboration and exchange, and the link with effective schemes in the public, social and business sectors.

With the above, the proposal is configured under the objectives established both in the Research Regulations, especially for its master’s level, as it seeks to generate, improve and apply scientific, technological and innovation knowledge and technological developments to contribute to the comprehensive development of the University and its relationship with the public, productive and social sectors of the communities, as well as the provisions established in the General Regulations for Postgraduate studies, that hold that doctoral studies are intended to prepare professionals to carry out original and independent  research, in a way that allows the advancement of knowledge.

The MyDAUD program seeks to meet the high demand of the northwestern region of Mexico and increase the capacity for research, innovation and technological development of the participating academic units by expanding the participation of the University and its academic bodies in collaboration and exchange networks academic with institutions of higher education and national and foreign research centers. Likewise, it seeks to strengthen the current schemes and programs for linking the UABC with society, the labor market, and the academic and scientific sectors.

In this regard, it is of vital importance to point out that in northwestern Mexico there is no postgraduate degree in this field of knowledge that enjoys the prestige and positioning necessary to meet current demand. That is why the implementation of the lines of specialization of the MyDAUD program broadens the framework of regional coverage to combine the worldview of Architecture, Urbanism and Design through the participation of visiting professors of high national and international profile.

The above in its different aspects and under the same focus on habitability and sustainability, which is manifested in robust thematic axes that bring together a diverse list of pertinent axes that go from the integral habitability of the space, the bioclimatic design and the incorporation of renewable energies in the building; and go through the theories of Architecture, the city and tourism, heritage management, landscape design or urban project management, until they reach ergonomics, media and interface design or product development, audiovisual design and artifact design.
